The all female cast of new epic musical cabaret Halbwelt Kultur staged a kissing protest outside the
Russian Embassy in London on Sunday 25th August at 10.30am.

Producer of the show PK Productions recently released a statement on the current crisis facing LGBT
citizens in Russia:

‘PK Productions along with the cast and creatives of Halbwelt Kultur support the plight of the LGBT
community in Russia and in the strongest possible terms oppose the draconian measures introduced by
the Russian Government.

Halbwelt Kultur touches on many of the issues confronting women during the Weimar Republic in the
face of growing Nazism including the persecution of the gay and lesbian community. We feel it is
therefore of paramount importance for us to raise our voices and declare our support for our brothers
and sisters during a period of renewed repression and subjugation of the community.

Both performances at the Battersea Mess and Music Hall on August 29th and 30th will be dedicated to
LGBT Russians.’

Based around the lives of 7 legendary women of the Weimar era, Halbwelt Kultur explores the
struggles facing women in the shifting social and political landscape of Berlin set against a backdrop of
authentic cabaret songs from the era.

The characters explored in the seven epic theatre vignettes that make up the show range from
international film star Marlene Dietrich to infamous lesbian cross-dresser Claire Waldoff and cabaret
legend Blandine Ebinger. The world of dance and performance art is represented by enfant terrible
Anita Berber and avant garde performer Valeska Gert, whilst the political sphere is explored through
writer Gabriele Tergit and socialist revolutionary Rosa Luxemburg.

After the success of the run at the New Wimbledon Studio, Halbwelt Kulturtransferred to the Riverside
Studios as part of Ruby In Blue’s ‘Hutch’ garnering outstanding reviews from critics – Michael
Billington of The Guardian describing it as ‘A stunning septet... stirringly evoking the self-conscious
decadence of the jazz age.’

PK Productions are looking forward to taking Halbwelt Kulturto the stunning Battersea Mess and
Musical Hall for two exclusive performances in August before a central London transfer.
